The IMO has gradually started operations again. They resumed meetings in September with virtual meetings for ISWG-GHG, MSC and MEPC scheduled before the end of the year. The remaining meetings originally scheduled for 2020, including CCC, have moved to 2021.

In July the IMO published its 4th GHG Study, which will be one of the cornerstones for IMO’s future strategy on the reduction of GHG emissions from ships. The report was analysed and discussed during SGMF’s 8th Environmental Committee, and a response was submitted at MEPC 75, along with a full LCA Study by Sphera (previously Thinkstep).  An update on methane slip developments was also submitted to ISWG GH7.

SGMF also participated in the ESSF subgroup “Sustainable Alternative Power for Shipping” on 18th September.
