KAIROS, the world's largest and first ever Gas Supply Vessel (GSV) with 7,500 m3 of LNG capacity has just been delivered to Bernhard Schulte.

KAIROS is jointly owned by Bernhard Schulte and Babcock International under the Joint Venture "Babcock Schulte Energy" (BSE). The vessel was built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) in Ulsan, Korea, it is time chartered to "Nauticor" and will start operations in the Baltic Sea before the end of this year.

A combination of innovative technologies will enable the GSV to deliver LNG to receiving vessels with zero emissions to the environment during normal operations.

KAIROS has a state-of-the art design and several unique features, including a ballast-free design, easily deployable pneumatic fenders, high manoeuvrability due to azimuth thrusters and a novel Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) system to store vapor return gas from customer vessels.

The successful delivery could not have been done without the strong support of our Schulte Marine Concept colleagues, who oversaw the plan approval and site supervision and further our BSM Germany colleagues, who arranged the timely attendance of a well-trained and enthusiastic crew.
